What Counts as a Plumbing Emergency?
A plumbing emergency is any situation where water is causing or about to cause damage to your property, or where you have no access to essential water or sanitation. The most common emergencies we attend:
- ✓ Burst or fractured pipes
- ✓ Major leaks causing water damage
- ✓ No water supply to the property
- ✓ Overflowing toilet or blocked drains
- ✓ Boiling water or pressure issues
- ✓ Water near electrical installations
What to Do While You Wait
Turn off the water
Find your stopcock — usually under the kitchen sink or where the water main enters. Turn it clockwise to stop the flow.
Switch off electrics if needed
If water is near sockets, consumer units or appliances, switch off at the fuse board immediately.
